Elroy Dougherty , founder of Industrial Communication Systems Ltd. had many interests; hunting , flying and most of all , his passion for anything electronic. He was a visionary and was self-taught in all things electronic, He had the insight to see things from concept to completed form. He built His first Radio in 1941 at the young age of 10. Throughout the years, this passion for Radios continued.The story begins when Elroy Dougherty took a radio class back in 1954.
Elroy and his wife Helen went on to start Elroy’s Two-Way Radio Service in 1959, operating out of their trailer in Estevan. In 1966 , the name was changed to Industrial Communication Systems Ltd. In 1969, Elroy and Helen moved their family and their business to 525 King Street where they operated out of the shop in the back yard. It was also in 1969 that they erected their first communications tower in Arcola.
